T Challenge 2024: Winner Announcement

The telecommunications landscape is rapidly evolving, and AI is at the forefront of this transformation. To accelerate this progress, Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile US have once again joined forces to host the T Challenge, a global competition that awards groundbreaking AI applications in the telecom sector.
This year marks the fourth round of the T Challenge, drawing over 300 innovative ideas from researchers, start-ups and grown-ups across 40 countries. After a rigorous selection process, six teams have emerged victorious, showcasing exceptional AI solutions that promise to revolutionize the telecommunications industry.

Top Awards

1st Place: Synthefy (USA)
Synthefy, a spinout from Stanford University and the University of Texas, Austin, impressed the judges with its generative AI platform designed for analyzing time series and network log data. By incorporating multi-modal metadata, Synthefy enables users to analyze time series data using simple text prompts, streamlining complex data analysis.
2nd Place: Inveniam (France)
Inveniam’s innovative AI solution leverages computer vision technology for efficient asset monitoring and fieldwork quality assurance. Their camera-based AI system ensures high standards in operational environments, enhancing both efficiency and accuracy.
3rd Place: Rockfish Data (USA)
Rockfish Data, a Carnegie Mellon University spin-off, secured third place with its AI platform that utilizes synthetic data to boost network performance and security. Their solution promises significant cost reductions and the creation of new revenue streams by enhancing network efficiency.

Special Awards

Fostering Global AI Innovation

Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile US have reaffirmed their commitment to innovation by supporting digital pioneers from diverse fields, including startups and research institutions. The competition’s focus on AI applications in telecommunications aims to uncover solutions that enhance network management and customer experience.
The winners not only receive cash prizes but also gain the opportunity to collaborate with T-Mobile US and Deutsche Telekom to further develop and implement their technologies in the USA and Europe. The first-place winner, Synthefy, alone received €150,000 to help bring their vision to life.

Claudia Nemat, Board Member for Technology and Innovation at Deutsche Telekom, highlighted the significance of the T Challenge in driving global collaboration and innovation. “Our T Challenge shows how global collaboration with T-Mobile US is driving powerful innovation. Ulf Ewaldsson, President of Technology at T-Mobile US, expressed his excitement about the competition. “Participating in my first T-Challenge as a judge was so much fun. John Saw, EVP and Chief Technology Officer at T-Mobile US, emphasized the transformative potential of AI in telecom. “AI has the power to make network ecosystems drastically more efficient. The winners from this year’s competition are paving the way for the future of telecoms and what that might look like in the age of AI.”
